FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

What should I expect during my first session and thereafter?

In your initial session, our main focus is on establishing a strong therapeutic relationship. Building rapport is key to achieving positive treatment outcomes, and we value getting to know you better. During this session, we will conduct a comprehensive assessment to gain a clear understanding of how we can best support you on your journey. This initial assessment typically takes between 60 to 90 minutes.

In subsequent sessions, we shift our focus to achieving your goals. Your therapy objectives will be person-centered, ensuring they are personalized, measurable, and specific to the outcomes you aim for during your treatment. Session durations may vary, typically ranging from 30 to 60 minutes. Each session is geared towards finding solutions and might include homework assignments to practice the skills we discuss. Our role is to guide, challenge, and motivate you to become the best version of yourself. Expect each session to bring hope, empowerment, and tailored challenges to help you grow.

What is a modality?

A modality is an evidence-based treatment that our clinicians use as a frame of reference to address many symptoms and needs. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy is one modality that is evidence-based and has been proven to reduce anxiety, depression, addictions, ADHD, and many more mental health issues. The modalities chosen are based on the individual needs. Our clinicians work from many different modalities to address mental health needs, including:

  • Solution Focused
  • Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Mindfulness
  • Trauma Focus Cognitive Behavioral Therapy
  • Existentialism
  • Gestalt
  • Person-Centered
  • Structural Family Therapy
  • Motivational Interviewing
  • Dialectical Behavioral Therapy
Why should I choose Metis Counseling Group?

At Metis Counseling Group, PLLC, we specialize in therapy for those who “don’t do therapy” or are interested in trying a new approach to traditional therapy. We provide a wide spectrum of treatment options to help you address your needs.

Are you accepting new clients?

Yes, we are now accepting new clients. We accept self-referrals, referrals from community agencies, as well as friend/family referrals.

How long will my treatment last?

Treatment length is based on each individual’s needs and how many sessions your insurance provider will authorize. We will work with you to develop a treatment plan that works within these parameters.

Who goes to therapy, and is therapy right for me?

Everyone seeks therapy for their own reasons. We believe that everyone may need extra support from time to time. Therapy should be looked upon as entering a neutral, non-judgmental environment that is there to assist anyone who may be going through life challenges. Therapy should be considered self-care, just as you would go to your physician and/or dentist for care of your body and teeth. Therapy is care for your mind.

Which health insurance plans does Metis Counseling Group currently accept?

We currently accept Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, Aetna, , NC Health Choice, and United Healthcare. Additionally, we accept Medicaid; however, we recommend contacting us to verify whether your specific plan is accepted. In case we do not currently have your insurance provider in our network, or if you prefer not to file with your insurance, you can opt for our self-pay rates. Please note that if we do not currently accept your insurance provider, we encourage you to check back later, as we are actively working to expand our accepted insurance carriers.

Do you bill my insurance?

Yes, we handle the billing process for your insurance on your behalf. We check with our billing specialist prior to your visit to provide you with the amount needed on the day of services. Your co-pay is based on a predetermined amount set by your insurance carrier.

We accept health spending accounts, Visa, Master Card, and PayPal for payment of services.

What are your working hours?

Our office is open Monday to Friday, 9:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. We schedule appointments outside of our office hours, so feel free to call and schedule an appointment for the time that best fits your needs.
