Everything you need to know before starting your journey with us.
We know that starting therapy can feel like a big step. Here are answers to the questions we hear most often — we hope they help.
In your initial session, our main focus is on establishing a strong therapeutic relationship. Building rapport is key to achieving positive treatment outcomes, and we value getting to know you better. We will conduct a comprehensive assessment to gain a clear understanding of how we can best support you. This initial assessment typically takes between 60 to 90 minutes.
In subsequent sessions, we shift our focus to achieving your goals. Your therapy objectives will be person-centered, personalized, measurable, and specific to the outcomes you aim for during treatment. Session durations typically range from 30 to 60 minutes. Each session is geared towards finding solutions and may include homework assignments to practice the skills discussed. Our role is to guide, challenge, and motivate you to become the best version of yourself.
A modality is an evidence-based treatment that our clinicians use as a frame of reference to address many symptoms and needs. Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) is one modality that has been proven to reduce anxiety, depression, addictions, ADHD, and many more mental health challenges. Our clinicians work from a variety of modalities tailored to each individual's needs, including:
At Metis Counseling Group, PLLC, we specialize in therapy for those who "don't do therapy" or are interested in trying a new approach to traditional therapy. We provide a wide spectrum of treatment options to help you address your needs in a way that feels authentic, empowering, and effective.
Yes, we are currently accepting new clients. We accept self-referrals, referrals from community agencies, as well as friend and family referrals.
Treatment length is based on each individual's needs and how many sessions your insurance provider will authorize. We will work with you to develop a treatment plan that works within these parameters.
Everyone seeks therapy for their own reasons. We believe that everyone may need extra support from time to time. Therapy should be viewed as entering a neutral, non-judgmental environment that is there to assist anyone going through life challenges.
Therapy is self-care — just as you would visit your physician or dentist for the care of your body, therapy is care for your mind.
We currently accept Cigna, Blue Cross Blue Shield of North Carolina, Aetna, NC Health Choice, and United Healthcare. We also accept Medicaid — we recommend contacting us to verify whether your specific plan is accepted.
If we do not currently have your insurance provider in our network, or if you prefer not to file with insurance, you can opt for our self-pay rates. We are actively working to expand our accepted insurance carriers, so check back for updates.
Yes, we handle the billing process on your behalf. We check with our billing specialist prior to your visit to provide you with the amount needed on the day of services. Your co-pay is based on a predetermined amount set by your insurance carrier.
We accept health spending accounts (HSA/FSA), Visa, MasterCard, and PayPal for payment.
