In accordance with regulations, healthcare providers are mandated to provide patients without insurance — or those not using insurance — with an estimated bill for medical items and therapy services.
You have the right to receive a "Good Faith Estimate" detailing the expected total cost of your therapy sessions. This estimate includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
Your healthcare provider will provide this estimate at least one business day before your scheduled therapy service or counseling. You also have the option to request one before scheduling any appointment.
If you receive a bill that surpasses your Good Faith Estimate by a minimum of $400, you have every right to dispute the bill. Keep a copy of your estimate for future reference.
